The team at Vie Active HQ, live and breath an active lifestyle. As part of our "Team workout Tuesday" we were super lucky to catch up with George and Rosie from Anchor Shapes Paddleboards
for some fun in the Rose Bay, Australian sun, and to discuss all things SUP.
Tell us a bit about yourself? How did you start Anchor Shapes?
George: I've spent my whole life in, on and around the water. Starting out with sailing later moving onto surfing and just about anything else involving the sea! Anchor Shapes Paddleboards was born out of a desire to share my knowledge of what boards would work well for newbies and experts alike to get out on the water with a smile on their face.
Rosie: I've recently joined Anchor Shapes Paddle Boards, with a background of yoga, love for the water, healthy eating & marketing. I've found that paddle boarding is the perfect way to get out on the water whatever age you are.
Paddleboarding is becoming increasingly popular, what are the benefits of paddle boarding?
George: The benefits are infinite but core strength, balance and enjoyment are guaranteed! Coupled with yoga this gives a near perfect exercise that anyone can try.
Rosie: same as above!
Where are your favourite places to SUP?
Rose Bay is perfect for flat water paddling and the beaches in the National Park can have very fun and quite waves. Further afield I would recommend the reef passes and tiny desert islands in New Caledonias huge lagoon. We were lucky to spend some time out there this Winter, see www.anchoraway.net
for more on our trip.
Rosie: Definitely Rose Bay is my local, another of my faves is Shelly Beach in Manly and I just love Palm Beach
What’s your active life mantra?
George: Be nice to people and smile!
Rosie: Be Kind, Eat Well, Smile
You obviously love the beach and the water, what are your beach essentials?
Where are your favourite healthy hangouts?
George: Our sailing boat. It's our floating zen escape even when moored in Sydney Harbour.
Rosie: After a paddle in Palm Beach, I generally pop to The Boathouse for a healthy feed.
What does a usual workout look like for you?
George: Yoga. Paddleboarding or surfing (both if I have time) and a quick beach run.
