Tell us a bit about yourself and why you love fitness?
I am a Kiwi currently residing in Singapore with my husband and two gorgeous gals, Sofia (3) and Poppy (1).
I discovered Xtend Barre by winning a raffle and the prize was four free Xtend Barre classes at Upside Motion the only studio in Singapore that offers Xtend Barre. After trying a class I was hooked and knew straight away that I would get on board and start teaching as soon as I could. I have a background in dance and have spent many years working for Les Mills, New Zealand as a Pump, Body Balance and RPM instructor. Xtend Barre is a fusion of dance and pilates set to good tunes set by the instructor. Each instructor has their own style and preferred music. I found that my experience as a group fitness instructor for Les Mills, New Zealand and my dance back ground resulted in a very smooth and exciting transition to Xtend Barre. It is my preferred work out over anything and everything I have ever done!
How do you spend your weekends?
Weekends are all about family for me which means bike rides, beach action and relaxing (preferably with red wine I hand!)
What's your style like when you're not working out?
Singapore doesn’t have any seasons it’s around 30 degrees every day! So my style is cool, casual and comfortable. I have to admit when I teach Xtend Barre in the morning I live in my Lauren, Full Length, Compression tights for the rest of the day. I just throw on a different singlet and keep rocking the tights all day long. I love them! (especially with my Nike High tops!)
What do you typically eat and what do you try and avoid?
My eating habits are pretty clean and green. I had gestational diabetes with both my pregnancies and this can result in Type 2 diabetes later on in life if you do not change your eating habits. I didn’t eat a lot of what I considered “sugar” but I discovered after seeing a dietician that my carb intake was far too high and the healthy juices I thought were so good for me simply were not. I, therefore, try to eat more protein and green vegetables.
How do you find balance?
To find balance I read books, turn off my phone and have a big mug of green tea. That’s my reset function!
What does living an active life mean to you?
Living an Active Life to me means living in the present, consciously thinking about the food you put in your body and projecting happiness and healthiness to those around you and leading by example.
How do you motivate yourself when you don't feel like working out?
My top work out tactic is to put on some high energy music on your way to a class or a work out to get you in the mood! My husband, however, does not always enjoy getting picked up from his stressful day at work with the above mentioned high energy music blasting through the car!
Why do you love Vie Active?
I love Vie Active for more than just the beautiful, practical, stylish products. I am drawn to the message Vie Active projects out to its community, the inspirational posts and the amazing ambassadors it has on board. When I wear Vie Active products I feel feminine, strong and elegant and that is what Vie Active to me is all about.
